Sno-King Amateur Hockey Association would like
to welcome you to ice hockey. We’re certain your child will
discover that ice hockey is a fun and enjoyable sport. You may have
some questions about how to get your child started in the Sno-King
Hockey Association. We think you’ll find most of the answers

What if my child needs to learn to skate?
Sno-King has several programs to teach your child to skate,
including the Beginner Hockey and Learn
To Skate Programs.
What Ice Facilities does Sno-King have?
Sno-King and operates two ice rinks:
· Kingsgate Ice Arena in Kirkland,
Washington
· Castle Ice Arena in Renton Washington
At what age can my child begin ice hockey at Sno-King?
Children as young as four years old have participated in
Sno-King’s Beginner Program. Typically children are between
five and eight years old when they enter the Beginner Program.
What age divisions are at Sno-King?
Sno-King has 5 age divisions:
· Mite Minors
*Mite minors is for kids 5-6 with one or more years of hockey experiece or for 7 year olds who have had at least 1 year of beginners
· Mite Major
*Mite Majors is for kids 7-8 with 2 or more years of hockey experience
· Squirt Division (Ages 9 o 10)
· PeeWee Division (Ages 11 to 12)
· Bantam Division ( Ages 13 to 14)
· Midget Division (Ages 15 to 17)
What happens after beginners?
Depending on their age and ability the players will move to a team.

When does the season start and how long is it?
It will depend on your child’s age and hockey division.
Evaluation for teams will begin in August or September. The season
will end in March or April depending on your child’s age and
hockey division. Sno-King has several beginner programs throughout
the year. Please check out our Hockey Programs page to see when
the next beginner program will be
How often do teams practice and how many games do they play?
Because Sno-King operates 2 facilities with a total of 3 ice sheets, this allows all teams to practice a minimum of 2 times per week. The number of games that your child will play will vary depending on which level they are playing at. All teams during the season play a minimum of 1 game per week with some teams playing 2 to 3 times per week.
What hockey gear does my child need?
Your child will need the following hockey gear:
· Hockey helmet with full face guard
· Mouth guard
· Shoulder pads
· Neck guard
· Elbow pads
· Hockey gloves
· Hockey Pants
· Garter belt or Hockey shorts with velcro
· Sports protective cup
· Hockey socks
· Shin Pads
· Ice Hockey Skates
· Hockey Stick
· Practice Jersey
*For children in the Beginner Program some of the above equipment
can be rented from Sno-King.
Where can I purchase ice hockey gear?
There are several shops in the Puget Sound area to purchase
ice hockey gear. Here are a few:
· Pro Shop at Kingsgate Ice Arena
· Play It Again Sports in Lynnwood
