How will teams be selected…?
Teams will be selected based on the number of players applying and the skills of those players. If enrollment is large enough, we will attempt to create additional teams where possible. Tryouts are open to players from all associations.
Depending on size and abilities, players can be moved up or down age levels (with parental approval) in order to find them a place to play.
Will our teams be competitive…?
There will be a 4 game tiering round in early-April. This will be done to try and place teams in appropriate divisions so that each team has a chance to have fun and be competitive. The number of tiers at each level will be based on the number of teams as well as the skills and competitiveness of the teams at each level. While this year may vary, last year, divisions were broken up into as many as 3 different tiers to appropriately accommodate the levels of play.
We already had planned a tournament team for the Mainland, Challenge Cup, Whistler or one of the other high level tournaments in BC this spring. How does this fit in….?
If all or many of the players at an age level are already planning on participating in some of the major tournaments in BC, Ultimate Hockey will work with us to develop a schedule for that team that leaves open those tournament weekends. The key is knowing this prior to the start of Tiering, so that the schedule can setup accordingly. Additionally, the Ultimate Spring League is a great way to keep your team together and playing regularly so that you can maximize your competitiveness in those tournaments. If you already have your team together, contact us to explore the possibility of leveraging this unique opportunity.
