Sno-King's hockey director, Doug Kirton, will be heading to Germany in August to play in a charity game to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Straubing newspaper.
Doug played for the Straubing Tigers (Bundesliga League) from 1991-1997, where he was selected “Top Foreign Player in History” and had his jersey retired by the team in 2000.
"I felt very honored receiving this invitation. Straubing has the 2nd largest Octoberfest outside of Munich. It should be a great event," said Kirton.
The game will be a mixture of former players and a few rostered players. Straubing currently plays in the DEL which is the top league in Germany. You can check out their website at www.straubing-tigers.com and try using the Google translater! (The translation is usually quite comical!)
