Our Late Start Learn To Play program is about learning the skills of a great sport in a fun and challenging environment. Players learn the fundamental skills of how to skate and handle a puck with a stick, and then play games in a group of their peers.
Ages: Youth 10 to 16 years
Prerequisite: Ability to fall and stand up without assistance, and skate the width of the rink without falling down or assistance, or coach approval.
Series Length: 10 Week Series - one class a week (may join at any time if space is available)
The focus and goal of our late start program is to teach beginner ice skaters the fundamentals of hockey. It’s important for these players to become comfortable on the ice while learning the basic hockey skills. Players will get to participate in games with their peer group in this class as well.
The classes will focus on skill acquisition for the first 4 weeks, and then move into half skills/half games for the last 4 weeks of the session.
Equipment required: Full hockey gear & stick - Players MUST be in full gear for this class. If you do not have gear, please contact Elevate Sporting (locations at Sno-King Renton and Snoqualmie, and stand alone retail location in Bellevue) to discuss options for acquiring gear. http://www.elevatesporting.com/
Additional information on gear can be found on our equipment information page.
