These teams participate at a consistent competitive level of play in the the largest youth hockey league in the Northwest, the Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association ("PCAHA") in British Columbia, Canada. This league provides our teams the greatest range of competition and ensures they are playing against similarly talented teams which promotes the maximum opportunity for player development. The teams also participate in some of the highest level tournaments in the area and country including USA Hockey State, District, and National Championships.
The teams have practices 2-3 times a week. There is usually at least one session of dry-land training before or after those practices. Each week they have one home game and one away game. The goal is to have the away games on the weekend but occasionally teams will be heading to Vancouver on a week night. There is a 4 week assignment schedule consisting of 8 games. The results of those games determine the flight that a team is placed into. The lower the number, the tougher the competition.
Additional fees are associated with playing for a Select team above the base fee paid by recreation players. Travel costs for Select teams (gas, hotels, meals, tourney fees, etc.) are in addition to the hockey fees paid to SKAHA.
