We’d like to provide an update on the 2020-2021 hockey season as well as the status of the new Snoqualmie facility. The response to registration has been extremely positive reaching capacity or even more in some age groups and we are thankful to have you a part of our Sno-King family this season. Our staff has been working very hard to define what the start of the season looks like balancing tryouts and evaluations, opening the new Snoqualmie facility and incorporating Covid-19 safety guidelines & protocol into all that we do. Our top priority continues to be delivering a positive experience with quality skill development & training while keeping players and their families safe. Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation as we navigate through these important decisions together.
Similar to season’s past, September will be focused on completion of tryouts and evaluations for all age groups. Currently 12u A1, A2, A3, 14u A3, 18u A1 tryouts are all underway with 10u Rep being planned for September 11th-13th. Rec evaluations are also being finalized with the schedule coming tomorrow. The September ice schedule as well as the preliminary fall practice schedule will be shared next week and will look different than years past to accommodate the numerous new guidelines and limitations upon us. We ask for your continued patience and flexibility as we evolve the season plan in accordance with CDC and state guidelines. While the preliminary fall schedule does not include league games at this time, we intend to use those weekend ice slots to enable all teams to have the same number of ice slots as in previous years. Age groups will vary in size to allow for more quality small group instruction, facilitation of safe distancing practice plans while allowing enough space for player development and growth. We are staying connected to our affiliates MHL and PNAHA to keep up to date on season game plans, tournaments, and travel potential. In addition, Sno-King will continue the current cleaning policies and safety guidelines for the upcoming season. We will frequently and consistently clean and sanitize areas that people come in contact with while in the arena. These areas will be sanitized and cleaned at least once each hour or after each use. We will also limit the amount of people in the arena to the number deemed safe by government restrictions. Both employees and all guests entering the building will continue to have their temperature's taken each day and must have a completed waiver on file for entry. We will follow the health department COVID-19 guidelines for employees in the workplace. You can view all of our cleaning and safety protocol HERE.
We are also working diligently to open the new Snoqualmie facility this month so we can share this incredible new arena with you. Some recent developments this week include painting and building both ice sheets, installing the stairs and lobby flooring plus completion of the exterior parking lot paving and walkways. We are hopeful to receive our temporary certificate of occupancy in the next two weeks when we can then begin allocating ice slots for use. In addition, we are planning for a special “virtual” opening celebration in mid-October for our players, families and the community. Stay tuned for more info in the coming weeks.
