Weekend game recap & update

By Sno-King Staff, 02/09/21, 8:45AM PST

Sno-King Families,

After an 11 month pause, it was so great to see the hockey smiles and game energy flowing around the rinks this weekend! We hope your games were a positive and safe experience for all.  A special shout out to coaches & players for getting creative with outdoor pre-game dryland as well respecting important rink safety protocols. We’d also like to thank all parents and volunteers for your cooperation and support under the given circumstances.  We recognize wearing masks on the ice is a new adjustment and difficult at times and we appreciate your cooperation as we all do our best in meeting these Washington State driven Phase 2 requirements for operation.

Please review the info below as it relates to some key learnings from the weekend:

  1. Masks required ON & OFF the ice at all times for all guests inside our facilities. We have ordered new signage for all facilities to ensure this message is top of mind at all times while entering and inside the building.  Your help to set expectations with your players that even after a scheduled ice session masks must remain on even while taking off skates and inside the building.
  2. Locker rooms are CLOSED for all teams, coaches, referees and visiting teams.  Staff is ensuring these rooms remain locked and we will add signage to reinforce that these areas are closed.
  3. Equipment ON/OFF will now be permitted for practices ONLY when accompanied with scheduled dryland.  We recognize there are unique times where teams may need to quickly put on or remove equipment during scheduled practice times that are associated with a scheduled dryland session.  Staff will guide you to a designated team Skates ON/OFF area upon arrival.  Please ensure to gear on and off within the allotted 10 minute transition time.  In addition, all players MUST KEEP ON A BASE LAYER during equipment removal.
  4. Transition time is limited to 10 minutes for arrival/departure of ice session.  Please be respectful of this short window of transition between scheduled ice slots.  Kindly take conversations outside if waiting for your player to remove their skates and please refrain from lingering or socializing inside. This is extremely helpful to manage capacity limits and accommodate new skaters and guests as they enter the building.
  5. Only 1 parent/guardian is allowed per player for both practices & games.  Please help us manage to capacity limits as well as avoiding further safety measures by limiting to 1 parent/guardian per player.  This applies to both practices and games. To help provide visibility to on ice activity, we are in the process of turning on Live Barn for those interested. We should have all rinks up and running in advance of games coming up this weekend.

Thank you for sharing valuable feedback on ways we can continue to improve.
